Course Information
The Preparatory Course for the Singapore-Cambridge Secondary Education Certificate at Elmwood International College prepares learners to meet the academic standards of the SEC examination, in alignment with the requirements set by the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board. The programme is designed around national assessment requirements while drawing on internationally benchmarked curricula. Learners develop subject mastery, critical thinking and problem-solving ability, and the communication and independent learning skills needed to perform confidently in national examinations and to progress to pre-university or equivalent programmes locally and internationally.

Learners take 2 core subjects and select at least 3 electives. Subjects are offered at varying levels under the College’s Assessment-Based Criteria (ABC-123) methodology, and may include options drawn from the College’s Grade 9 and/or Grade 10 curriculum.

- Completed nine years of formal education; OR any Grade 9 equivalent; OR Candidates with other qualifications will be assessed on a case-by-case basis

- 15 years and above.
Language Requirement
50% or higher in the EIC Secondary (Upper) English Placement Test

Twice a year, at the beginning of each half-yearly intake.

Tests A1 to A3 are diagnostic and carry no weighting. They are used to track readiness and to inform targeted intervention ahead of the national examination.
Course Completion
Students must achieve at least 90% attendance and not be absent for more than 7 consecutive days without a valid reason.
