Course Information
The Grade 9 Programme at Elmwood International College is designed for learners who aim to attain the EIC Grade 9 Certificate and who aspire to succeed in the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) or the Singapore-Cambridge Secondary Education Certificate (SEC). On completion, students may attempt the SEC or continue to the EIC Grade 10 certificate programme. The programme also opens progression to EIC’s external extension programmes, including Columbia International College in Canada and The Knox School in New York, United States of America, as well as other internationally recognised qualifications.

Learners take 2 core subjects and select at least 1 elective. To qualify for the EIC Grade 9 Certificate, students must also participate in the EIC Learner-Centred Development (LCD) Programme. MOE Full Subject-Based Banding applies from Grade 9.

Formative assessment within each term comprises class tests, presentations, assignments and/or project work (50%) and attendance and active participation during lessons (50%). The Learner-Centred Development Programme is based on participation and attendance and does not form part of the formal assessment. Learners are eligible to sit the final examination on completion of all four terms, or on completion of at least two terms with a minimum of 100 learning hours per subject and the recommendation of the subject lecturer.
Course Completion
Students must:
• Achieve a minimum of Grade D (50%) in at least three subjects;
• Achieve at least 90% attendance, and not be absent for more than 7 consecutive days without a valid reason or approval from the Head, Academic and Examinations;
• Demonstrate satisfactory participation in the EIC Learner-Centred Development (LCD) Programme
